The tire pressure marked on the side of the tire is the maximum pressure according to the manufacturer of the tire, not GM. The recommended pressures, based on a combination of handling and comfort, are 29 lbs front, 26 lbs back. This is for all models of Malibu, from 1997-2000. Personally I would inflate to 30 or 32, but the ride would be a touch rougher. (By the way, if you have a compact spare, it should be inflated to 60 psi.)

Check your driver door jam for a sticker. It will show what the recommended pressure for the 'stock tires for that model'. The tire itself only states the 'max tire inflation'. It doesn't mean that is what's best for the car. Almost all passenger tires will show max inflation of 35 psi. That car probably needs from 30-32 psi. I will change my pressure depending on tire wear and if I'm going to be on the highway alot, to prevent overheating. We just sold a 2001 Malibu w/ 68,000 miles on the tires and still had 4/32 tread left, because of rotating and watching inflation.

i own a repair shop, and you need to go by what the tire has written on it,instead of what you might be told on here ,the tire pressure is based on the maker of the tire, and it will be printed in small print on the side of the tire and will be accurate for it ,,its usually around 32-35 pounds, but read on the tire to be sure,,good luck i hope this help,s.

it has nothing to do with the car, it is all about the tires
the tires should have the psi on them
I would guess 36 to 42 psi average range

If you look on either your Driver or Passenger door it tells you what your PSIs should be......If not located there Look on your trunk lid..Theres a white sticker that tells you your PSI info.
