I'm just not sure he's the long term answer. What's their solution?

They probably won't. I agree, he's not a long-term solution at all. What they might do is try to get a blockbuster trade (not necessarily this season, but future ones) and try to get a big man. I remember last year, there were rumors of a Kevin Garnett trade with them. But the other option, is that they might try to groom one of their draft picks or future draft picks into becoming their center for the future. They messed up by letting BOTH wallace and milicic go.

In all honesty, I feel the Detroit Pistons really made a mess of a position that they were deep in two years ago. With players like Ben Wallace, Mehmet Okur, and Elden Campbell. Then-coach Larry Brown had the luxury of not playing a raw Darko Milicic.

Today it is a different story, with Campbell retiring, Milicic being traded to the Orlando Magic, and Okur and Wallace signing more lucrative deals elsewhere; the Pistons have no choice but to make do with who they have--Nazr Mohammed.

Mohammed is an excellent rebounder and average scorer (better than Wallace in this department), but he is no Ben Wallace, Mehmet Okur, and even a raw Darko Milicic. The Pistrons have no other options. I expect Nazr Mohammed to be a Piston for the length of his contract.

Hope this helps.

No, he's definitely not a long-term solution for their center position. I think that he's just a replacement for Big Ben for this season. I think they're going to let the season play out and if they don't make the playoffs they'll trying drafting another up coming big man. Or by next years off season they'll be signing some free agents for the center position. They could try comin up with a trade right now, but I highly doubt they'll pull anything off. So right now, at least for this season, they'll have to stick with Nazr.

Being that he is my starting Fantasy Basketball Center, I hope so. Nazr is not a long term solution, rather a cheap replacement for B.Wallace.
