Me and my husband are looking for a secluded area of the lower 48 that stays relatively cool throughout the year and has a significant amount of snowfall. A small town area of Colorado is desirable. He would like to purchase a rustic cabin for year-round living. Me, I prefer a bit of an upgrade, like indoor plumbing perhaps. But we both agree that large amounts of snowfall is a plus. We do not ski, hate skiing, just love the cold and snow.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did not want Michigan. I should say, he doesn't want Michigan (I would LOVE it as my family is there).

Colorado is a good choice. If you want to stay West, Utah and the Dakotas should also give you your fill.

Other places include Western New York (Lake effect snows) the the Upper Penisula of Michigan.
