A young hare is a leveret. A young rabbit is nowadays called a kit, or kitten.
Interestingly once rabbit was the word for a young rabbit while coney was what a full grown one was called. This only stopped around a hundred years ago!

Its a kitten, just like a baby cat. A collection of little baby rabbit siblings is also called a litter, the same as cats.
What a wonderful world we live in.

Thomas - I have always been practical and although I would never eat a pet rabbit, I have eaten rabbit a long long time ago. My mother called it fricassee of rabbit. So I would name my rabbit Fricassee just as a joke and to let him know he is in no danger of anyone trying to cook him. I like to bring good memories into my life by giving my pets unusual names that bring visions of my mother and father back to me.
