About 9 years ago my family and I moved into this house where...interesting things happened. The first day that I stepped foot in the house something just felt wrong about it, but I was too afraid to say anything. Everyone was so busy with picking out their bedrooms and deciding where our furniture was going to go that I didn't want to bring it up. But no matter how much I tried to push the eerie feeling aside it stayed with me. Convincing myself that it was only me, I remained silent about it.
I think it was just a couple of weeks after we had finished moving in when I noticed that some of my personal effects would come up missing from time to time. The one instance most vivid in my mind involved a book.
One day I was sitting on our couch reading a book when I had to get up for something in another room. I left the book on the arm of the couch, open to save my place. Minutes later I came back, only to find my book was gone. I checked under the couch, checked under all the couch cushions and even flipped the couch over to make sure I hadn't accidentally knocked it off and kicked it underneath. But nothing. I retraced all my footsteps just to make sure I hadn't taken the book with me, but still nothing. Thinking one of my younger siblings had taken it to be funny, I went after each of them and asked them to kindly return my book. None of them had it and they each said they hadn't seen it. I gave up on my search.
I think it was exactly two weeks later when I walked into the living room and lo and behold, there was my book. It was on the arm of the couch, open to the same page I had left off at, as though I had just walked away from it. No one in my family could have put it there because I was the only person in the house at the time.
We all had a lot of stuff that came up missing from time to time while living in that house. Sometimes things would mysteriously reappear, sometimes we'd never see them again. On a freaky scale, these were the LEAST of freaky things that happened....
I have nearly a lifetime of true "ghost stories" to tell. If you want to hear any of them, let me know!

I have never seen a ghost, but I do have a few things to say:
My house is built on an old farm property. Downstairs in the basement, I always get the feeling that someone is behind me, watching me.
Sometimes we can smell vanilla even though there are no candles burning, things like that.
One time I was just sitting on my couch one day and the remote flew off the top of it.
I took a picture through my window and I got a picture of what looks like a girl from the 1800's carrying a basket. I can see everything pretty well except for her facial features.
That's all I've got. Never seen a ghost though. That would be pretty sweet though.

I have had quite a number of ghost encounters, but I'll tell you one of the clearest.
I was in my kitchen making some mini pancakes. I just took them out of the microwave and was putting butter and syrup and stuff on them. There was a blinding light and the corners of my eyes were blurry. I looked to my right and there was this face of a man. It was larger than a normal adult face, and it only showed a little hair and no neck. I just stared at it and it just stared at me. It was a bit fuzzy but not too fuzzy, and it was an off-white color. You could see details, and light was emitting from the face. It smiled and sorta just faded. It was there for maybe 20 seconds or so. Once it was gone I rushed upstairs. I was at a counter next to the refrigerator, and across the kitchen is the stairway for the 2nd floor and the basement. I ran so fast that I almost ran into the door because it was closed! I didn't want to ask my mom if anyone had died in this house, because I would just sound weird coming up to her, and out of the blue asking if someone had died in this house. I just kept it to myself, but the event is burned into my brain.
I've also just felt really cold all of a sudden sometimes, and I've also just not felt right... It's really creepy. I always get really really scared and see my hand get really pale and it just feels like the blood is draining out of me. It's so creepy!

I was standing about 20 feet away from a telephone pole that was struck by lightning. All the little hairs on my body were standing up, my heart skipped a few beats, and I'm still afraid of being outside in a thunderstorm.

We moved to a different house about 2 years ago. Our bedroom has two french doors which look out to our swimming pool in the back yard. I kept hearing noises out by the pool at night and was VERY frightened at night. It didn't help that my husband works many evenings and I'm all by myself with two small children. One night I was watching T.V. in our room, when someone started knocking real loudly on my door. I freaked out and called the police. When they came, they couldn't find anything and left. The whole time I felt like someone was watching me when I was in our room at night. Then my mom came down to visit us. She was staying in our family room, which also has two french doors that look out to the pool. Late in the evening, she heard a knocking noice coming from the back door. She looked over an saw a little boy with dark hair looking at her. She looked away and when she looked back he was gone. We did not know what to think of this until I was talking to my neighbor and she told me about an unfortunate event that happened one year previously. The family that we bought the house from had four boys. One of the boys that was three years old drowned in the pool. I still hear noises out by the pool, but I am not as scared as I once was. One positive thing though is that my kids are so scared of the pool area they will never go out there by themselves!

Just like you I have seen spirits all my life. I do not believe in UFO's however. The spirits don't frighten me, but sometimes they do annoy, especially when they are speaking to me in languages I don't understand and have to go to the person who they are trying to get a message to in order to phonetically spell it to them and get the message through. I guess the 'freakiest' experience was when a spirit was 'sitting' on the edge of my bed when I was sleeping. The message was urgent and I dealt with it. You do know what I am talking about because, just like me, this has been a lifetime thing and you also know you have nothing to fear from real spirits. The most frightening thing was dealing (in the course of my job) with demons. I have had experiences where I have been able (with help) to cast out the demons, and times where I could only protect those with me. We once had a black magic book stained with blood. Both my supervisor and I watched it burn in the incinerator. More than 10 years later that book was back in my office. I took it from another person and had to show her. She was literally shaking. Same bloodstain, same dog eared pages, same inscription. That to me, is freaky. By the way, it's under control now.

True story... a few months before 9/11 happened my husband and I flew into New York City from Detroit. I love flying... I love everything about it and I always insist on the window seat. But on this trip when we flew over the city I got this horrible, sick, frightening feeling when I looked out the window. I couldn't look... it was that frightening. That had never happened to me before and even my husband though it odd. And then 9/11 happened... I've often wondered if that was a premonition of some kind... :-(

When I was 18 years old, I began to experience what seemed like madness. I saw horrible visions with my eyes open and especially with my eyes closed. I was afraid to sleep. It seemed to me that some evil, horrible entity was always present and meant me terrible harm. I felt really silly. Having been raised a Catholic, I was bitterly disappointed that Jesus didn't step in on my behalf, in spite of my many requests. After two months I made an appointment with a local mental health professional, though I had little reason to think they would really address my problem, due to their instant denial of it. But what else can one do in such a situation? I felt so stupid.
The night before my appointment, it was happening again, and I lost it. I complained to God that he had not kept his word, that he had not helped me. Then I heard a voice say, "But you don't need help." "What!? How can that be?" I asked. No one said anything, so I opened up whatever part of us can see such things and I looked. And I saw that it is true. There is no harm that can be done to me. This body can and will be harmed, but the part I was afraid for is quite safe. I cannot explain this to anyone, except to say, "LOOK!" At that moment, I heard glass break, but I got up and couldn't find the source of the sound. I fell asleep grateful and slept deeply.
The next day I visited a person I thought of as a friend because she had experience in this same area. I couldn't wait to tell her of my new found view. But when I got to her house, I saw her kitchen window was broken. I immediately questioned her about that window. She looked exhausted.
She confessed to me that she hated me. She said she'd been using the occult to try to cause me to harm myself! She was angry with me about a man! She told me that the night before, she'd been focusing evil intentions in my direction, but suddenly became aware that she could not succeed. She'd thrown a shoe in her frustration, and it had hit the window and broken it. She lived 5 miles away from me.
Because what she tried to do to me brought me such a huge blessing, I prayed hard she wouldn't have to pay the price for doing that. But 10 years later, in northern California, a train carrying pesticides jumped the track near her house, and the toxins it carried brought a terrible mental illness to the whole neighborhood. She spent two years in an institution, separated from her own children. May that be the end of that, and may she feel completely at ease.
In Tibetan Buddhism, they have what they call wrathful dieties, who resemble the devil. They are said to bring you your worst fears, so that you may overcome them. That's how I think of her now. Bless her.

ok well this didnt happen to me, but it happened to a friend of mine. true story!!:
this one friend i have is ALWAYS getting the stomach flu. like all the time. but one time she had it really bad.. she was telling me once what had happened. she said she was all dehydrated and that she wouldnt drink or eat anything, she would just up-chuck it. so the first night that she got it and that she was in REALLY bad condition, her mom had a dream. The moms uncle was in it, but he was really dead in real life. he had died years before. he was telling her to "check on her daughter". so her mom got up and went to my friend's room. the friend was really pale and wasnt moving (not because she was sleeping). so then the mom took my friend into the bathroom and force-fed her water. over the course of a day or so my friend got better.
my friend told me all of this stuff, and i believe it. she said her mom told her the dream. so i guess her great-uncle was looking after her as a ghost in dreams! freaky!
I had another story but i forgot it... sorry! if i remember i'll post it. but that is my very true story!

I remember when I was about 16, I was lieing in bed listening to Sum 41. The last song came on and it said something like "the devil will stab you in the back" or something like that and I felt chills all over my body. I opened my eyes and there was this shadowy blob thing and as soon as i saw it, it was like it flew through my window or something, but it disappeared.
