I hate to say this, but it means she isn't really your BFF. Would someone who really cares about you intentially do something to hurt you? I don't know how clean of a break you can make, since I'm assuming you guys have a lot of mutual friends together, but she doesn't deserve to be your friend if she betrays you. One thing you might want to think about though is this; have you done anything in your relationship that she might have been hurt about? She might have felt hurt by something and instead of telling you decided to reciprocate.

Figure out the root of the problem. She must be your best friend for something, right? The both of you have to arrive at a way to fix things. Don't let the problem linger; don't leave her in the dust either. You might regret it later.
