Yes, because the dog hears its own bark. If it was a tree it would still make a sound even though no one hears it.

Yes, my dog barks all of the time and I can still hear him no matter how hard I try to block him out. No one is outside but the entire neighborhood hears him. I bet he hears himself too.

I pretty much agree with natluvur. Potential sounds are merely a 'wave' in the atmoshere. If there is nothing to de-code it to a "hearing level', it is just like the radio and microwave that constantly go through objects.
