I would like to know if you have to cut down purple grass for the winter? Should it be covered?

To Ralph, I live in the north. Should I cut it down before I cover it, and how far?

If it freezes for long periods in your area you should cover it. Otherwise, once the foliage turns brown it's time to cut it back. You can cut it sooner if it looks too unsightly.

I assume you mean the tall ornamental type. Where do you live??? If in the far south, January, elsewhere late fall. Cover only if temperatures drop below 25 deg for more than a few days.
