What is the best foundation for oily/blemish prone skin?

I've got the same type of skin as you. Do NOT go for anything drugstore. The intial results may look good, but within time your skin will either be irritated or break out. Plus not alot of them have good colors. I tried using Bare Minerals for a while. It looked all right, but it made me more oily.

Go to the mall and just look around. My favorite brands are Clinique and Prescriptives. Right now I'm using Clinique's Perfectly Real Compact Powder Makeup for my moderate acne. It controls my oil well enough since it's a powder. You may also want to try out the liquid version, I've heard good stuff about it! Since the RIGHT foundation is important for your makeup, it's okay to spend a little. =).

I have oily skin that I like to call "angry" b/c it will break out for any reason - and I'm in my twenties so I have a lot of experience dealing with this!

The first thing you need to do is wash your face with a gentle cleanser. I find that a calming wash helps to heal acne is best, instead of something loaded with salicylic acid that dries it out (I use the foaming wash by Cosmedicine www.sephora.com).

Next, moisturize - yes, even oily skin needs hydration. Using the right moisturizer can actually keep oily shine under control. I prefer the oil free moisturizer w/ SPF 30 by Dr. Patricia Wexler (Bath and Body works).

Next...the foundation...I use Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals foundation. It will NOT irritate acne - my dermatologist recommended it to me and I've been hooked ever since.

Try buying the starter kit, or just by the applicator brush (must buy this) and a foundation. I have two shades to adjust it and make it a perfect match.

I agree with some of the other answers though - it's your face and it's worth the money. I will use drug store mascara or lip gloss, but as far as any skin care, foundations or powders I spend big bucks.

The bottom line is that you don't want to further irritate it - so use the minimal amount of products.

Be sure to look for the words "non comedegenic" and "oil free."

Good luck!

Definitely go with an oil-free foundation. Powders don't cover that well, and liquids are a pain to blend, so go with a mousse. My definite favorite is Dream Matte Mousse Foundation from Maybelline. A lot of women like it - just pick your shade. It's so easy to apply, your face will look great, and no one will even be able to tell if you're wearing any. I have light skin so I use the one in Porcelain Ivory. I am loving it!

For blemish prone skin, try to choose a product with as few chemicals in it as possible, and marked as noncomedogenic. Oily skin is easily irritated and that causes it to become more oily.

Good product lines to try are: Prescriptives, Almay, Origins, Bare Minerals.

I use Prescriptives oil-free matte liquid makeup and it actually has improved my skin.

Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O-they replace all the oil in regular make-up with water! It feels ah-mazing too....but Dream matte mousse foundation by maybelline is fantastic but i'm not sure of the oil content-I'd be willing to wash my face a few times a day just to use The dream matte mousse-it works great as a foundation AND a concealer and its super blendable:)

What you should do is get a cover gril cover stick that matches your skin tone and use it on your blemishes and under you eyes to get rid of darkness....once you blend that in, use cover girl powder to go over top to get rid of oilyness and glossiness....I do this and it turns out awesome:)

P.S. make sure to use enough powder...don't be shy...lol

hope this helps:)
