Ford may be promoting rumors of bad decisions, but remember that Ford is one of the largest corporations in the world, just like GM. Ford UK owns Jaguar, Volvo, and Aston Martin, and I am not sure but I think Rolls/Bentley as well, but don't quote me on that.
GM owns, Saab and others, and has a net worth more than half the countries on this planet. So, no matter how poor their economic plight is, it probably isn't THAT bad.
And, the worst decision in Ford history was to make the Edsel.

Is it a real crisis, or a way to reorganize the company so it can get out of its pension obligations, union agreements, debt, etc. Suggest you sell now and buy stock in the new reorganized company if that is what is happening. This manuver does not necessarily mean bad decisions were made in the past, it may just mean that they are looking for even better opportunitiy at some elses expense.

Are you referring to Ford? If so then yes they are having massive financial problems right now. There are a couple of reasons for this, one they haven't caught on yet that the market has shifted to smaller more gas conserving vehicles and second they haven't figured out that customers want quality now.
When the Asians automakers are offering 100,000 miles 10 years warranties and the US automakers are still using 30,000 miles 3 years warranties its no wonder people will buy Asian cars over US cars.
