just got a new laptop and its different setup from old one i keep getting a search panel for every thing i wan

when i go to my docs and open it goes straight to search which i dont want i just want to open

My computer used to do that. turned out there was a problem with my version of Microsoft Office. Once I'd reinstalled it everything worked ok. I was using Windows 2000 at the time too, if that's of any help to you.
