typically teenage girls can be very irregular for the first few years of getting their period. I myself, got my first period when I was in Grade 8, and it was regular for 2 months, and then I'd skip about a month or two, and then it would come back and be really heavy. Recently my period went away for 5 or six months, and then it came back, and I had it for 12 weeks straight. However, I had a hormonal imbalance, but this is very normal. And if your friend is really really concerned, get her to go talk to her doctor. They'll explain, and they're really understanding. :) Hope this helps :)

Quite often, a girl's period doesn't regulate until she has had her period for more than a year or so. Even then, for many girls, it can take a lot longer than that.

If she is not sexually active and she is fairly new to the mentruation process (meaning she started her period less than a year ago), then she doesn't have anything to worry about.

Also, she should feel comfortable asking her mother (or if she doesn't have a mother) an aunt or grandmother that she is close with, about these things. It is nothing to be ashamed of.

If you are young, your period takes awhile to become "regular". Especially if you have just started having a menstrual cycle. Is your friend involved in anything athletic (i.e., cheerleading, softball, basketball)? Serious physical activity causes a menstrual cycle to become irregular. If there is any serious pain (outside of the usual cramps), then your friend should see a doctor.

First off how old is she?? Are you teens? Its to be expected if you are to go even a month without one. But 6 months that is unusual. What she needs to do is get checked out by the doctor, you cant expect any other kind of answer but that.

Has she been working out strenuously? Has she been taking different medications or changed her eating habits? Sometimes factors such as these can effect a woman's period. One summer I worked out strenuously and lost my period for 2 months. If she hasnt done anything differently, she should consult a doctor.

The first few years can be very irregular for a lot of girls. It should get more regular in a few years.
