People wanted a change so they voted down Republican rule. It was meant as a stand to help the government understand that we want to be heard and heeded. I could be like some and give you the list of reasons they were so unpopular but I reckon someone else will fill that slot.

First, the Dems are literally not maximum individuals contained in the Senate - its tied 40 9, 40 9 plus 2 independents. second, the Dems lead by about 25 votes contained in the residing house. not a lot out of 435 individuals. The Dems have rallied 100 and forty votes for this Bush administration initiaitve. McCain promised the Republicans contained in the residing house might want to help it...they did not - purely 40% voted for it. So, no, that is not the Dems who scuttled the bill. Its the GOP individuals.

The right thing to do is always hard for the majority to understand. I live in Michigan, over a 100 years of manufacturing and for four years we have had a governor that is tiring to reinvent the wheel. The result is this state is the worst in the U.S., we have more companies leaving for the south and more people moving from the state. And the idiots I live with voted her back in.... Thanks democrats! Another four years of Michigan going down the tubes! And if it's the republicans fault, then why is the rest of the U.S. fine?

The American people wanted change, the Democrats want their voice in government heard and are willing to be bi-partisan, something that the republicans were unwilling to do. A common sense approach to government and issues that will be for the good of the nation. They took their feelings to the polls and cast their votes.

The voting public was fed up with the administration's handling of the war, Katrina, our economy, etc.

I should also add that the scandals also played a part. More Republicans are embroiled in the Abramoff scandal in addition to the sex scandals that surfaced with Foley and Sherwood.

Because the majority of American voters decided that the Republican's do not represent them the way that they believe they should. There is a mistrust of the Republican good ole boys club that has been in power for years, and it is time to have balance of power back in Washington.
