My dad says it's better to get one with a hard drive. But I'm only going to use it for walking to and from school and on the bus. Are there any downfalls to getting a flash memory-based one?

I'm looking at the SanDisk Sansa 240. I can't find any reviews for it though.

Any advice would be appreciated.

For what you are talking about a flash based player would be better. A hard drive player can hold A LOT of music but it's bigger, heavier and if you drop it it's toast. A flash player is more durable, fits right in your pocket, is less expensive and can hold enough music to keep you from getting board for quite a while and when you do, just dump it and reload it with new songs.

There really isnt any difference in the quality of music..the only differences would be the amount of music you can put on it and the price you pay for it. If you get a hard drive mp3 player they hold alot of songs..but so does a flash memory player they hold up to 2 gb which is about 300 songs...
