im thinking about getting a rack ball mouse, so i need to know if they are good, if they work, if they are better than normal mouses.

also would they not work well with video games such as World of Warcraft where you have to make quick movements and clicks with the mouse(for spells and such) or other games?

please explain, thanks

to clear up confusion:
a track ball mouse is one where you do not move it but rather move a marble typle ball on the top/side of the mouse with your finger. a example is here:

I would never use anything other than a trackball. Super precise. No fatigue since your hand never moves.

I am looking for a new one now and wanted the Kensington Expert Optical but it doesn't work with a KVM switch so I am still shopping. If KVM wasn't an issure I would get the Kensington Expert Optical trackball in a heartbeat.

Go for it.

I used one for a while. But the Trackball got dirty in the same way that a mouse does. I did not find it any better than a mouse. I swear by the Optical mouse, since it simply lasts longer.

Good luck

Trackball mouses do not work well with games...my advice is to get an LED mouse or infrared...also to get the best performance with this type of mouse, you have to get a good mouse pad becuase the LED reads little grooves in the mousepad so they make special ones for gaming.

Trackball mouses do not work very well with gaming
1) They are too sensitive half the time
2) Most of the time MOUSE3 (push in the scrollwheel) is used for zooming, etc.
3) It is difficult to aim well

I'm a bit confused by your question. If you are referring to a ball mouse vs an optical mouse, I would say that yes, both kinds work great with gaming. Ball mice deteriorate over time though, and they require more maintenance. But the nice thing is that you will never "confuse" a track ball mouse by lifting it incorrectly and send your cursor flying to one corner of the screen.

If you mean one of those old track balls that allows you to control the cursor with your thumb, then I would have to say it's a very bad idea. The only game that I would recommend playing with one of those is Black and White, allowing you to throw rocks as if you were golfing in an arcade. ;-)

mouse. attempt logitech g5 (laser mouse). it is the ultimate you will discover. it is the holy grail of gaming mice... in case you get the settings precise. it is have been given 5 distinctive sensitivity stages (adjustable via you) and it is between the main snug mice i've got ever had. it is going properly with the logitech g15 keyboard. verify them up on the internet. they're the ultimate gaming gadgets ever! yet be careful! the g5 desires a particular mushy floor as a mousepad, by way of fact it is have been given particular PFT ft and that they positioned on off and it won't drift as easily from now on.

trackball mouses are just as good as regular mouses, but only if you know how to use them and have had practice.

It's a matter of personal taste.

Some people like track balls. I loath them.

The only way to find out if they work for you and you like them is to try one.
