Dale Earnheardt or Richard Petty.........because they both have Seven Championships won plenty of races,GREAT RACERS,and both are and will for ever be known for being respectable racers.

Got to agree at this point.....Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. But there were plenty of others who would be very close. With the current drivers, the competition has gotten so close, that it's hard to pick a best driver. You'd have to name several... Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Dale Jr., Jimmy Johnson, Carl Edwards... and lots more. Also, Nascar has made the design and construction of the cars so equal that the only variables are the crew's ability to set up the car properly, and the driver's ability to drive it.
