They fight when they are put into the same cage. they are both females and when i got them over the summer, they stayed together in the same cage. But then, one day i saw them and one had a bite on its back. So, i put them in seperate cages. About two weeks later, i tried to put them in the same cage and they started chasing eachother. One of the cages i have has a wheel and the other doesn't, so i have to keep trading the hamsters between cages so they can get their excercise. Any ideas on how to make them stop fighting or to a least get them in the same cage w/o one killing the other one?

you can either buy another wheel and put it in the cage that doesn't have one or...you can take a peice of card board and put it in the middle!when you think one wants exersise put it on the side that has the wheel! And when the other one wants to sleep let the other one exsersise!!!Good luck!

Hamsters will fight if they are in a cramped area. First try taking one hamster out of its home, and put the other one in it. Then put the other one in the other home. In otherwords, they are trading places. Do this for a couple of hours off and on for a couple of days. Then put them together again and watch them and see what they do. If they keep fighting or one bullies the other, then you may have to get a bigger cage for them so they won't feel so cramped in a small space together..........Make sure you have plenty of water and food with fruits etc. for them to eat. Good luck!!

Keep them in separate cages and get another wheel. Unfortunately, they will keep fighting.
My fourth grade teacher had hamsters that lived together for a year and then one night when everyone was out of the classroom, they fought and one of them ended up dead.
And don't get a male. You don't need hamster babies. Just love the ones you have.

I used to have hamsters, well we started off with 2 sisters; one day they got out of their cage and one never was found. So we got another one to replace to one that was missing so she wouldn't be alone; only to find out that, they don't do well with other hamsters from another litter. The new one ended up killing the other one then she eat her head off. We found her in the morning with most of her head missing. The last one was killed by a dog 2 years later.

They will never stop fighting. It is obvious they have become breeding age. Hamsters even fight with the opposite sex. Buy a new exercise wheel and get a male to trade between the females.

keep them in seperate cages , hamsters are not as sociable as guinea pigs , so don`t get them confused , even if you put 2 females together , they will still fight !

Your mistake was seperating them in the first place. Get them both a wheel, but I wouldn't get a male unless you want babies, but I don't encourage it.

Keep them in their same cages, switch the wheel back and forth and switch their bedding periodically. They'll get used to each others scent
