apparently he's won the Caribbean World Series and his Dominican team finished 4th in the World Baseball Classic last year...I wouldn't have picked him, but none of the managers I would've picked wanted the job...I'd say he's a fine choice.

The Nationals have a lot of problems that a manager alone cannot solve, at least currently. They have some good young players and if they can keep Soriano, or another slugger, and fill in a pitcher or two, they can at least be competitive as they were in 2005. That is more on the GM than the manager.

Well, he did manage the Yankees to three straight World Series titles in the eighties, so I like him.

Even if he is - and who knows, this is his first managerial job in the majors- without the talent, the Nationals are still just another last-place team. And that's probably what they'll be.
