Depends on the species of sea lion. Steller Sea lions live in the Northern Pacific, from the Kuril Islands around the Gulf of Alaska and down to central California or so.
The California sea lion lives from southern British Columbia down to about Baja Mexico.
The Hookers Sea lion lives on the South Island in NZ and other nearby subantarctic islands.
The Australian Sea lion lives in Australia from The Pages Islands in South Australia and Houtman Abrolhos off the Western Australian coast.
The South American Sealion lives along the Chilean, Peruvian, Uruguayan and Argentine coasts.
All Sealions are tied to coastal areas inclding islands as that is where they breed. They will not be found on open ocean and are generally in temperate or subarctic waters.
