It is almost impossible for an unpublished poet to sell his/her work to a publishing company.

You can, however, submit to magazines. When you have been published many times in magazines this builds up your reputation. Then you have something to put on your resume.

Poets don't usually have or need agents. Agents can not sell unpublished authors.

Sorry, the the life of a poet has always been very exasperating. Go the route of submitting to magazines.

There is a way to publish yourself. This costs about $4,000 and you would get about 1,000 books of your work. Then you would have to market the books.
