Rolling is apparently dominant and non-rolling recessive.

This is so funny b/c my hubby and i were just discussing it yesterday. Both my husband and I can roll our tongues. We have 6 kids. 5 of them (even my 3 yr old baby) can roll their tongues but my 9 year old son can not. He gets so mad especially when the younger kids do it at him to tease him.
I'm sure he could do it if he could just figure out how to make the muscles work that way b/c isn't that one of those things that if both your parents can do it you should be able to do it to?

None such thing as a gene you carry that allows you to roll your tongue.........you either learn it or you don't. I can roll my tongue, I believe it's because I learned German when I was learning English. As a toddler.

Yes, I can roll my tongue, and also roll it three times into a "cloverleaf". I cannot flip my tongue, though.
