There is no support for your spine. It is just as bad to sleep on your back because then there is too much weight on your spine, especially if you are pregnant. The best position to sleep in is on your side. Use one of those leg pillows to keep your spine aligned. Take care.

I've been a side sleeper for a really long time, but recently I've been having a lot of back pain in my thoracic spine area. Just as an experiment, I used a very firm pillow under my stomach (fits right below the breast and right at the top of the hip) I'm pretty short), I also sleep with a very soft pillow under my head, and one under my ankles to keep my knees slightly bent. I noticed improvement within one night. Seems to be the only thing that works for me now. No more back pain! Yay!

i always sleep on my stomach and always have, Ive never had any problems at all. As long as you dont sleep with a big thick pillow or anything. you need to have a flat one, a flat soft one. And of course dont eat before you go to sleep because your stomach might hurt a little while trying to digest, and its not good for you anyways no matter how you sleep.

I am a chiropractor and can refer you to a new article I just wrote on the subject entitled, "Stomach Sleeping: Perhaps Your Back's Worst Nightmare" In it I try to clearly explain the dangers of stomach sleeping and suggest alternatives, giving easy to understand rationales for my recommendations. Here is a link to the article dated July 30th, 2014 ... http://depthhealing.blogspot.com/

It is not bad to sleep on your stomach if you are not a baby. For babies is is a risk factor is SIDS but not for adults.

Because like me, when you sleep on your stomach you wake up with this disgusting knob feeling in your tummy and it hurts also
It has something to do with the food digestation process I'm sure... maybe it'll give you gas?
Think about your food in your tummy as you're lying on it and it's that way for hours... not a good idea I guess

There's no proof that it's "bad". If that's the position that's comfortable for you, then go ahead. Most people shift around in their sleep quite a bit anyway, so you won't stay that way all night long.

because all your wieght shifts onto very important organs casuing them slow down and to have increase pressure on top of them example your stomack, intestines. it wont kill you but does cause extra stress on them that can be prevented.
