My baby girl is 6 1/2 weeks old and was born 10 weeks early. She is being breastfeed now and has a bad case of gas that smells really bad. Can someone help me out with this one please, if you have delt with this.

Congrats on your baby girl. Especially since you are nursing I would be willing to bet that the smelly gas is coming from what you are eating. Everything that you eat she gets. If you are eating gassy foods then she will in turn have the same reaction. I dont think that it is something to worry about though. Unless she gets cranky from gas pains. Then I would recomend Mylicon drops. Best of luck to both of you.

For the gas, tummy time will be your babies best friend. You could also put baby on his back and pump his legs like if he was to ride a bike, that will help him to pass gas and give him some relief. their poos will change through out time, it was probably something you ate that made the consistency different. Try looking at your diet and seeing what he is sensitive to. Worse comes to worse when he is constipated give him a little Dark Karo syrup will do the trick, about 1 tbs in a 4 oz bottle of milk.

My 3 children have all gone through that. Remember, what ever you eat will affect your baby. If I ate broccoli, my kids were up all night with gas. The same with lots of garlic. You might start keeping a diary of foods you eat, if they bother the baby you know to stay away from them.
Hope this helps. However, if you are very worried, you should call your doctor and put yourself at ease.

I have a 3-week old with the same problem!!! I am cutting out offending foods one at a time to see if I can find the culprit. I'll tell you, the gas is toxic!!!

Yes it's normal but if it continues for a long time call your doctor. She probably is just still developing her digestive system.
