I used to teach 6th grade and I was good at my job. When I taught a topic, I taught all sides so the children could decide for themselves. So when I taught evolution, I also taught creationism, and the theory that I personally believe, which is that life started when an alien named Jar Jar Binks, masterbated into the primordial soup, therefore starting life. I was soon after fired. Do I have any legal recourse?

You seriously said that? Maybe you should have asked their opinion first. You may have had a new and better theory to work on. Creationism, fine, but Jar Jar Binks' masturbation sessions? Wow...

As far as legal recourse, I am not a lawyer and I'm sure the kids thought it was hilarious, but you are an adult. Come on. If I were an administrator, I would have voted you out as well. Best of luck with that. Just let everyone know what school you will be working for so we can all be sure to pull our kids.

Perhaps you were fired because you mentioned the possibilities of evolution first. Then to make it worse, you mentioned creationism. No wonder the school was shocked! You should of mentioned neither and kept to the sensible true fact that life began when Jar Jar Binks performed ownism or masterbation into the primordial soup to create life.

Sorry though to hear you lose your job but never mind!

Um, no, and remember that Jar Jar Binks is not real. He is in Star Wars. Star Wars people are not real.

did you really teach that to 11 year olds? personally, i don't blame the school for firing you. did you honestly believe you could get away with that? if everyone said that to their students, why bother going to college? or high school?

no luck for you, a teacher is not to teach their views on matters like this...stick to the facts that are in the books. i thought a teacher had to file a study plan for approval...in california i know they used to , when i was teaching that was the rule....

I think it would be very difficult to find a lawyer who would take your case because you would not have much of a chance to win on this one.

federal law demands separation of church and state. good enough for me.

teachers are paid to educate our kids. messing up their little minds is a task best left to their parents.
