Wow, you won Gaynor Minden Pointe Shoes at a competition. I have a couple of questions to ask you before I give you my answer. Are you and or have you been taking pointe dance classes? I want to know if you are ready for pointe. When you won these pointe shoes did you have to go to the dance shoppe to be fitted for the Gaynor Minden Pointe Shoes? I want to make sure a pair of pointe shoes that fit you correctly. As you can tell by now I am a dance teacher who totally cares about dancers. Now for my answer I perfer Ouch Pouches. They are comfortable but at the same time you can feel the floor which is important in pointe. I hope that I helped you out.

Hmm... Even though I currently use Lambs wool, if you are new to pointe you should get Ouch Pouches. You should be a little experienced before you buy lambs wool. I danced with Ouch Pouches for 2 years before I got lambs wool. Ouch Pouches are good for when you are just starting out, Lambs wool is for when you are a little older and want more comfort or more strength in your foot. Even though I currently don't like Ouch Pouches, you should get them IF you are just starting en pointe. If you have been dancing on pointe for a long time, you can try lambs wool toe pads out and see if you like them or talk to your teacher. Hope that answered your question!

Ouch pouches are easier, softer, and more comfortable. Lambs wool is good, but takes a long time to get the correct size and you work through a pack very fast while ouch pouches last years.
BUT
You won pointe shoes at a compitition???? Are you currecntly on pointe? If not you shouln't begin dancin without a teachers permission, you can really hurt yourself.
Also you should have a fitting done to ensure that you are wearing the right size shoe, and at that fitting you can figure out which padding is better for your feet.
Also remeber that you can use paper towels and tape.

I grew up in a world of lamb's wool only. Then when I began teaching, they invented the ouch pouch and some other really cool gel inserts. I have worn several kinds now. I really like the Eurotard pointe comfort toe pads.
I recommend that my dancers that are new on pointe start with the gel type pads. Then when their feet are better used to it, you can switch to lamb's wool so you can better personalize where you like more or less padding.
The only thing you can really do is try them and see which you like better.
Oh and I second what charlotte said. Make sure you are ready for pointe shoes before you try it. Your teacher can evaluate if you are really ready. I just assumed you were already dancing on pointe when you won the shoes.
