Mcafee is basically a program which scans files sent, and recieved by your computer. Although there is no way for a virus scanner to run effectively without being at least a little bit intrusive, McAfee is just far too intrusive, it significantly slows down PC performance, and it's buggy as well.
Mcafee may be the reason why your pc altogether is slower. I have read some reviews about this program and they have been bad.
I would recommend you uninstall McAfee as it is a bad service. There is a hard to use Techinical support service in place which is basically.. Pay to ring McAfee or go into a chat room.
I hope that i have helped, if you need more help, dont hesitate to email me and i will give you more advice on different antivirus systems.

This is a brief answer from a computer networks engineer. Because you have installed McAfee antivirus. This program eats all of your systems main memory when it is working in the background, so the answer is, your system is low on RAM, try upgrading it, if not uninstall Mcafee, and try to install a free antivirus program called avast antivirus. This you can download from anywhere, or go to www.freewarefiles.com and search for it. You should also download a firewall, such as zonealarm or comodo, this will be the same and even better than McAfee.

Uninstall McAfee. You probably have more than one anti-virus program running. DON'T DELETE IT, UNINSTALL IT!
I've never had anything but problems with McAfee, and quit using it years ago. I run Avast by Alwil, which is free for home use, updates daily, and keeps my computer virus-free.
McAfee and Norton are BIG memory hogs and will slow any computer to the stopping point.

what your dad has installed by the sounds of it is a add-on called "site advisor",this is quite a good item as it gives you a rough idea of what the sites are like before you actually visit them
however this program should,nt slow down your internet connection, try going to the green banner on your internet explorer homepage, and click on it and click settings, then check that only the 2 top options are ticked,if the bottom 2 are ticked ,untick them
has your dad also installed any mcafee programs such as a anti-virus or anti-spyware,as mcafee programs do drain alot of memory, especially if you dont have alot anyway, but if you dont know how to uninstall these dont, just ask your dad ,and explain your p.c is being affected by the programs and can he install something else
if you need a selection of security programs that are free to use and dont drain your memory, try these:
for anti-virus avast anti-virus(http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)
anti-spyware spybot search and destroy ..(http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html)
adaware professinal....(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware)
installing these programs will only take minimal amount of hard drive space and very little memory, these will protect your system as i use these and have for the last 2 years and suffer from 0% viruses and minimal spyware(the odd bad cookie)
with reference to the site advisor ,see how it copes with the new anti-virus and anti-spyware and if its o.k obviously leave it on your p.c otherwise remove it
any problems let me know
good luck

the 1st time i will think of of is that your notebook isn't quickly sufficient to run your working gadget and your McAfee internet risk-free practices on the comparable time. once you run McAfee, verify your RAM to work out how lots avaiable RAM you have left. in the adventure that your avaiable RAM is below 30% collectively as working McAfee, it potential which you have not have been given sufficient RAM to run your working gadget and McAfee on the comparable time. it may additionally be your processor not being quickly sufficient. now and lower back, even although your producer lists that your processor velocity is sufficient to run your internet risk-free practices, categories of fashions of processor have distinctive powers. working example, an AMD Sempron at 2.6 GHz and an AMD Athlon 2.6 GHz, the two are indexed at working the comparable velocity, however the Athlon one will run lots extra valuable considering's a extra valuable sort.

ask him to switch to Norton as you will only experience more frustration when subjected to the McAfee regime. Also tune up your PC to restrict the applications that are loaded at start-up. The proliferation of seemingly small, but time-consuming, processes will slow down a system to a crawl unless you monitor and restrict them.

Enter the Task Manager by pressing the key combination
Ctrl Alt Delete
See which process is taking the CPU time.
also see how many processes are running, anything in excess of 55 and you probably have some malware installed.

Mr Mcaffe has gobbled up only the ram he needs ,
Could be as Patrica suggests interacting with another anti virus program that has not been properly removed.
I would first suggest you downloaded Ccleaner and cleaned up your hard drive . Then download a anti spyware programme such as ad-aware ,To check for any lurking spyware.

McCaffee and Norton are two different types of virus protection programs. They're both good at protecting your computer from viruses, but they each take a LOT of room (RAM) on your computer. Also, they update themselves a lot, and the old parts of the programs that have been updated stay on your computer, so the programs end up taking more and more space. Sorry!

How much ram do you have, i recommend at least 512 for anti virus programs like that; personally, I use a free program called AVG free, it is totally free and since I installed it my computer has been running better than it did with Norton installed. download it at http://www.free.grisoft.com
AVG goes fast even on slow computers with only 128MB of ram.
Also, for faster and more secure internet browsing, download Mozilla Firefox at http://www.mozilla.com
