The car would be off. Gas treatments are put in the gas tank after you fill up. Oil treatment is put in during an oil change. Follow the instructions on the package.

I've used Marvel Mystery Oil for years, and put it in the gas tank after a fill-up. Or, depending on how much gas you are putting in the tank, maybe half a bottle of MMO. If you are using it in the gas tank, the car should be off when you put it in. Just drive as you normally would. Refer to the instructions on the container, and it will tell you how often to add MMO to your gas or oil.
It is a lot less expensive than fuel injector cleaners and does so much more for your car's engine.

Marvel Mystery Oil is a very good product for any gas engine. I, too, have used several gallons of it in my lifetime.
I have never bought a can of it yet that didn't have complete instructions for use printed on the can.

Take it with you to the gas station. As with any gas additive it is best to put it in just before you fill up the tank. This will let the gas being put in the car mix the additive in as you fill it. Then drive as usual. No need to let it set at all.

I use it alot myself..... the directions are on the bottle for the most part........
I usually add a half a quart per full tank (20 or so gallons)
Use it in the lawn equipment as well...
Don't really use it in the oil... and don't recommend so, just in the gas... (car off of course)
