My daughter wants this toy. An aquaintance said she thinks you have to buy diapers and food over and over for the doll. That you have to trash the dirty diapers and not wash them and the food actually disappears and youll have to buy more. What is this? Another human baby for me to support or what?? Is thuis true or was she misinformed?

Good wake up call for kids!! If your daughter wants this toy, have her "support" the baby by earning money from chores and using MOST of the money for the "baby's" needs.

I had this doll from the 1970's and I must say I loved every minute and so did my Mom. But my mom made clothes diapers and such and made it jello to eat so it's really not all that bad. Use your creativity for this one and you'll get allot of use of this doll. I still have it and it really didn't change all that much. After feeding it I recommend giving a bottle of luke warm water to keep it clean so you don't get a real stinky dolly.Your girl will love it and remember how much fun it was like I do. So go ahead and have fun with it! Don't let the kid in you forget how much fun you can really have as you can always turn the doll off.Lol

No you weren't misinformed! You do have to buy extra food and diapers. The baby actually releases the food that it is given in the diaper so you do have to throw them away and get new one's! So yes you are supporting another 'human baby'.

i had one when i was younger. im sure they are a little different now, but with mine there was special food you bought for the doll, and yes you had to buy more once it ran out, but mine lasted a while. the food is a powder that you mix with water. and as for the diapers, the baby poops out the food you feed it but if you get it a plastic lined diaper you wont have to buy diapers for it, just clean the one you have. or you could also get cloth diapers for it, and throw them in the washer. i loved that doll when i was little.

Usually toys like that come with 2 or 3 diapers and by the time the diapers are gone, your child is bored with the toy anyway. But, maybe she won't get bored with it. If she doesn't, then just buy a package of cheap newborn diapers and let her use them for the doll.

I had this toy when I was little, they just recently brought it back. But yes that is correct you do have to keep on buying this stuff. I am getting one for my daughter for Christmas...they get sick of things quickly anyway. My only concern is are they going to stop selling it like they did when I had it and then you won't be able to find the replacement stuff???

I had the one out in the 70's and you do have to buy food and diapers for her. I actually gave her ketchup, which clogged her up and then had to "feed" her hot water to get the ketchup to come out. I was shocked and amused to see the new version on tv commercials.

I know growing up in the 70s there was a doll like that so there probably is now too. My mom wouldn't let me have it either.
