I mean why do girls feel that it is so important to talk about each other and hurt each other mentally and physically.

I know its so frustrating...and it really hurst people's feelings...but some girls gossip b/c they are just plain mean....and try to do or say anything that might hurt people for there enjoyment. Some girls gossip b/c they are very insecure and want to put other girls down to make themselves feel better.....but you have to stop and think.....we all gossip.eachand everyone of us....even me and you......you may not notice it but we probably have all talked about another girl we dislike or rumors we hear....some girls gossip more than others....but we all do and we have to understand that....so all we can do is ignore gossip and not get involved....hope I have helped!

I think girls that gossip a lot are secretly insecure and want to be accepted by the group that they are in. Find a group of girls who have serious goals and hang out with them. The gossipers have too much time on their hands...

girls gossip so much because they just can't keep there mouths shut and plus its one of the biggest thing these days with girls telling alot of things...and stirring things up just to make trouble....
and plus i don't really know the answer but its just what we do...
and nothing can stop it from happening...
i don't even understand why they do it but they do it anyways....

I'd like to know the same thing. There are very few girls out there that don't talk about people behind their backs & i see no point in hurting someone.

I think it's got to do with women being more socially aware than men. They keep tabs on things men wouldn't dream about. Men are more like 'if he/she is doing it in his/her home/office and it's not bothering me, that's fine with me'.
But women tend to go something like: But I wouldn't do that? Why would he/she? And they have to know.
Ever try to start gossiping with a man. If they're like me (and I think most are), they'll just give you a blank stare. (So?!? - Good for her?!?)
I think it ultimately stems from women being so curious about other people - they have to know why other people are the way they are. Men tend to have an attitude where if they're not directly impeding on our territory, that's not a problem for us.

Well I don't understand it, either. I have never gossiped. Idle chatter irks me. I'd rather talk about something happy, something useful, or something profound.

I am not really sure...I don't like participating in that behavior myself.
I have come to the conclusion that it is out of jealousy. They want something you have, so they have to make themselves feel better by saying something negative.

Well Physicality isn't implied by gossip, plus thats a sexist remark-I know plenty of guys that gossip more than a lot of girls.

becuase they are jealous of the other, and don't feel sure enough about themselves.
so they try to bring other down because they can't get up
