Personally, I think Federer is better than Nadal. He has better strokes, a better variety of game, flawless touch, and immense mentality. If you compare their physical fitness, Nadal has the edge, but you have to understand that Roger is extremely fit as well, although not as defined. You get the impression Nadal works harder than Federer, but I am sure Federer works just as hard. Once you reach top 10 or so in the Pro Rankings, it's not just about training and physical fitness only; talent is a huge factor as well. I'm not saying Nadal is not talented, it's just that Federer is TOO talented.
I notice how many people criticize Federer on clay. It's true Nadal is a little better than he is now, but I believe Federer will conquer him on clay next year, IF Nadal manages to get to the finals. This year he had some weaknesses in his clay game, perhaps because of additional exposure to cover other surfaces. Despite his long streak he earned this year on clay (60 or something), I don't think he's as sharp as before. I say Federer will win Rolland Garros next year.

I think it's great that there are passionate tennis fans out there, but are you seriously comparing a guy who has 2 grand slam titles in his career ( 5 titles this year) to a guy who has won 9 grand slam titles (11 titles this year) ? Come on, be realistic...Nadal has a long way to go! And those of you who caught his interview on BBC the other day, will know that Nadal himself does not belief he can ever match Federer. If Nadal doesn't believe it, neither do I!

I am not sure that Nadal is better the Federer. I do know however that Nadal does seem very smart in his interviews and has a good personality. I know he is working hard to get a handle on the English language. That could be a business thing though. I am sure Nike wants to use him in speaking commercials in the states.

The reason why Nadal has more wins when they play against each other is because Nadal hardly ever makes it to the finals in Grass and Hard Courts.
Thats why Roger Federer is Number one, because even on Clay he still makes it to the finals a lot.
Unless he meets Nadal in earlier rounds on grass/hardcourts, Nadal will always have a step on Roger in the wins against category

He's not a better tennis player than Federer. Roger is #1, and
is better than Rafael in most departments. Rafael has the edge
in terms of the head to head series and on clay, but everywhere
else, Roger's achievements are greater. He can be an intelligent
person, but that has nothing to do with tennis. He isn't a better
player than Federer, until he surpasses Federer in the rankings,
and starts to win more majors than Roger does over the course of a season.

If you think that you might be intellegent.. just not about tennis. I have a lot of respect for Nadal but he is in trouble becasue he grew up on clay and that style of play and court surface are very hard on your body... now as he has risen up in the rankings he is finding it important to try to win on hard courts... this will tear him up even more. I believe that he will have a few good years and then fade away like most clay courters who try to then compete on hard courts. The same thing happened to Tomas Muster, Gustavo Kuerten, Sergi Bruguera. So enjoy watching Federer becasue he is going to dominate for the next 3-4 years!

no i dont think thats possible.nadal is my favourite player but i totally feel that when it comes to tennis federer is the best except on clay obviously.nadal loses matches to many average players like johanson, berdych, youzhny.but federer is the most consistent player ive seen.federer is too perfect and even when he runs for a drop shot he does it with such ease that it seems effortless.the reason why many people including me prefer nadal is because of his overall personality, his energy on court, the fist pumps and definitely his game.

Intelligent but misinformed. Nadal is a fantastic player, but he doesn't come close to Federer.
