You can only believe that Pelosi is a “radical” if you’re the kind of person who believes that John McCain is an “independent.”

Nancy Pelosi should be understood as someone who has supported George Bush for the last six years. She voted for a motion for unequivocal support for George Bush’s conduct of the war in Iraq, and she led the Democratic Party to vote for that. So she is someone who has been committed to the policies that the U.S. government has followed.

She's a radical if you define her on Republican terms, i.e. anyone who has power who doesn't fall in line with the neoconservative ideology...

I'm not sure where you came up with the idea of radical. Many of us have for years realized that the liberal wing of the Dem party wants badly to control the country. A Dem from San Francisco is by definition a liberal. This is the concern, not that she is a radical. In spite of her saying she wants to work with reps, I expect her to push for impeachment of Bush. I don't trust her any further than I can throw a horse. She has a definite agenda and I was appalled when she was elected by the house. That does not make her a radical nor do I think the reps have made her out to be that. I think you made that up.

Well she is a far-left California democrat. Even if she is a radical, we have republicans and conservative democrats to keep her and Bush in balance and checked. Everything should be fine.

Have you been hiding under a rock the last 6 years? Have you not been paying attention to her?

You have forgotten one really big key here. The election, while having been won by democrats, was won by democrats who are fiscally and socially conservative. Which means she is going to have to be careful of what, where and how she says things. She is extremely liberal, and very far left in her thinking, maybe more so than our inebriated buddy Sen. Kennedy and John "which way should I go today" Kerry. She will push for her far left tendencies, but it will be more back door and under wraps than she would other wise have to be thanks to these conservatives recently elected to the democratic side of the aisle.

Hating to agree with you, I am beginning to think she may not be the radical that I thought she was. However, it's only been a week, and I am still skeptical. I have adopted a "wait and see" strategy.
