I was looking into identity theft also recently. Here are two very good sites. Read all the information here first before you believe the other junk out on the Internet.

http://www.privacyrights.org/ar/ITLawsCA.htm

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft//

The FTC site has the most information. Good luck

Here is a link from my last weeks BBC NEWS, that I get daily from London, England. The link gives you indepth knowledge on how your idenity is stolen. How these criminals operate and make millions of dollars per day an usually will never get caught as they hide behind a proxy for less then one day and move. Plus how to protect yourself.

The second link is from the Government of Australia, (computer security agency). I receive this data for new found viruses and other flaws on all different platforms. How to protect yourself, plus you will find that common sense far outplays your security in your pc.
