➔ Trying to Conceive
Wow, I'm sure there was lots of useful info in that last post, but did we really need the whole website?
Usually, they say to wait for 3 months after coming off the pill to make sure it's out of your system and for your body to reset itself. That's not applicable to everyone, some women get pg even on the pill.
If you've been trying for 10 mo's, it's about time to see your doctor. Doc's will usually start looking into infertility after a year of trying. They should ask, and at least need to know about, the regularity of your periods, and they should do some blood tests to make sure you don't have a medical problem. They will probably also suggest having bf's sperm count checked, just to make sure. There's not enough information provided here to suggest any possible reasons, but they can range from stress, to not ovulating, to thyroid problems, and many more. The good news is whatever is keeping you from conceiving, it's more than likely treatable. **Find a doc that you feel you can be open with and will answer your questions candidly.** Trying to figure it out, or even taking a diagnosis where no other info was provided (me) and researching it on your own can be really scary and I don't recommend it. Good Luck.

my understanding is it takes around 3 months to rid the pill in your system. It may take longer since you took it for 8 years. Folic acid will not help you get pregnant, but good job taking it now in case you become pregnant. 10 months of trying is really not that long, depending on your age. Most Dr. won't investigate infertility issues until at least a year of trying. Don't try so hard. Just relax and have a good time. See a Dr. if you aren't pregnant in the next 4 months, and good luck. Enjoy the trying!

Lola, hun, ignore this person. Just because someone is a physician (if they are even telling the truth) doesn't mean they're right. Remember: "Doctors only PRACTICE medicine." Plus it sounds like this person is a joke. You're fine. I have 4 cats and even tho they could potentially carry diseases, they don't. I mean, everything could potentially carry something, even humans, so if we worried about every little thing then no one would ever conceive. Women conceived in ancient times when they wore animal skins and didn't have antibacterial soaps! I think we're ok nowadays. ; )

The folic acid won't help you conceive, but you need it in case you do conceive (to prevent birth defects).
Be sure you're trying a few days before and around the time you're ovulating. You can get test kits at the pharmacy.
It does not take 2 years to get the pill out of your system. It's out almost right away. It can take a year or more to get depo out of your system, though.
Good luck.

Well I would ask my doctor before hand but I think its just that you been on the pill for such a long time its gonna take a lil bit to get pregnant. But what I tell alot of ppl is just stop thinking about getting pregnant so much and it will happen. Me and my boyfriend tried for a year and nothing happened. as soon as we stopped trying so hard I got pregnant in a month.

Please contact a Gynic Doctor and get both of you examined. If there is problem in either of u the Doc. will suggest the course of action. In case it is due to any problem with the husband, and if you both are in agreement, you can go in for a test tube baby - but this course of action is the last. First try the medical check up and treatment for some little time and then you may decide.

Lisa, the effect of the pill goes away after 4 months from stopping it. So you seem to be okay on that.
To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your fiance to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your fiance to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.
