I agree with the other poster. There's no way you can't know unless you are in denial and not right in the head. There are way too many things that go on when you are pregnant that you can't not know. Maybe the first half of your pregnancy, you can say that you didn't know you didn't get your period for 5?! months, but when the baby starts doing somersaults and gets big, how would you justify that to yourself. That would be some crazy indigestion!!

I've seen this many times as a labor nurse.
Usually it is that the person is in big time denial...they don't want to tell their parents or are just really scared so they lie to themselves.
As well, some women, especially young women, will still have some sort of menstrual cycle (although shorter and lighter) for part if not all of their pregnancy.
Finally, if the girl is kind of big anyway, and a combination of the other two above occur, it is kind of hard for her to see changes going on in her body weight.

I think that's what you call "denial" it's ridicules even if you carried very small and still got your period you would still know you can feel the baby kicking and moving and you would notice your stomach was different......I personally think it's bull when people say they didn't know they were pregnant til they were in labor

Not to be mean, but they would have to be a little kooky or at the least in denial, although there are some women that do continue to have somewhat of a period even while pregnant, it would be impossible for your tummy not to enlarge somewhat.

I think also there are some girls who are sexually active at such a young age these days that they are actually THAT niave. They are so young they don't have regular cycles or don't understand exactly how pregnancy happens. That plus ignoring symptoms plus maybe being large... it's a bad combination!

Sometimes you are not in tune to your body and maybe the baby is not that active. I have heard of this many times. One friend still had a period the whole time she was pregnant.

Personally, I am inclined to believe it is because they are idiots. But, the women claim that they never missed any periods and did not expereince any weight gain. I think it was more because they ignored they signs and hoped it would go away.

my friend gave birth at glastonbury festival after a night of heavy drinking and drug taking. Now I doubt VERY much she would have even gone to the festival if she knew she was due to give birth that weekend, let alone all the abuse she put her body through. it CAN and DOES happen. She had no clue

Those women are fictional.....between not having a period for 9 months...a swelling uterus and a laundry list of many things - I tend to believe they are lying!!
