I inherited a bunch of great stuff from my mother-in-law but so much of it is stained. Would love to be able to use it but it really needs a touch up first. Any ideas? Have tried just washing it but that's not enough.

Fill the sinks with hot water and bleach and put the china in the sinks. Let sit until they appear without stains then rinse and wipe and there done!

Have you tried using white vinegar? I use diluted vinegar to clean a lot of things and it works great. If the china is white or sealed well so the colors won't fade, you can try washing it in hot water with a little bit of bleach, but don't use too much. Just remember, old china should always be hand washed, never put in a dish washer; the pressure jets can damage it.

some of the brown stains on my old china is from being in the house with a wood burning stove and it does not come out. but then again over 50 years have passed.
