Out of the two choices given, I would say Shaq. The 3-pete was during a time of dominant centers and Shaq was the best. He created so many problems and mismatches downlow, Kobe was allowed to do his thing. Look at what has happened since Shaq's departure.
But if I could pick a real leader, I agree, with Phil Jackson.

Shaq of course! Kobe has yet to win a playoff series in two years time. I forgot, what happened to Penny after Shaq? hmmmmmm He went from being compared to Magic Johnson, to a 6th man, and then to a reserve in just a handful of years. Even last season, if you watch tape and replay offensive pocessions. Shaq was the #1 scoring option on the team last yr. EVERY SINGLE TEAM looks to double Shaq, not Wade. This is because if they look to double Wade and not Shaq, they're facing a MAXIMUM of a 5 game series. This is because Shaq abuses any man in a TRUE ISOLATION (meaning no one is even playing softly on him in the middle of the paint on the weak side) situations. In a nutshell, Shaq is the leader on every team he plays for. Coach's like the big money that they make and inturn know that Shaq is scoring option #1. Because of this if you coach Shaq you make him the top option, and if you're coaching against Shaq, you defend him as option #1. Every team does it, so you have to give the leader role to Shaq.

Kobe was the leader and the main reason they were winning. The Lakers will always be Kobe's team. Shaq was just a member of the team.

At first it was more Shaq although there were games where Kobe dropped 40+ and saved the Lakers vs. The Spurs. I would say by the third ring however it started to become more and more Kobe's team.
