Well not knowing how old baby is this is a bit hard as babies grow and develope at such a fast pace one day can make a difference to a stage in development.
Baby equipment casual =
1:Mother or any person = free and can help a baby develope in all areas emotional,pysical, social by talking/singing/playing/caring/taking them out for a walk/showing then a different envioronment/list is endless.
2: Black and white book from mother care or good baby shop this helps baby focus and see.
3: Mobile above cot they can see and hear this.
4: A small rattle for noise has to be small enough and light enough for baby to grasp
5: A teddy or soft toy to place in cot and to play with as it is a good sort of comfort something familuar.

An age would help. My baby is 8 months old and plays with all sorts of things. He has loads of toys, but loves a little food pot that I have filled with pasta! The noise is great to him.

for a baby of any age, anything to stimulate visual perception. Mobiles of differing shades of one color or primary colors, I make mine with styrofoam balls and embroidery thread mounted on a dowel. Books that have realistic pictures in them. Great for language development. Music and sign language. (babies visual perceptual development occurs only in the first 12 months of life so it is very important to provide as much stimulation as is possible.

my son and daughter used to always play with my pegs and saucepans...........
They were not interested in the bedroom full of toys
Play gym if they are tiny with the lights
