The town of GOSLAR is in the Northwest of Germany, approx. 50 Kilometers south of Hannover, 200 Kilometers south of Hamburg, and 300 Kilometers north of Frankfurt.
The town is in the Harzmountains, very close to the former east German border. It is a old town, founded in the middle ages. The town was a famous mining town until the 1980's. The Rammelsberg Mines are now a UNESCO World Heritage place.
There is a castle, called the "Kaiserpfalz", which was home for a while of Friedrich Barbarossa.
The old town is small but very beautiful. Worth visiting.
