Most of the time, they do it laproscopically, which is two tiny incisions, one in your belly button and one at your pubic bone. They do that kind of surgery under general anethesia, which means you're asleep. I had mine done a different way, because I had a spinal block and was awake while they did it. It took me about a week to feel mostly normal. I went back to work about 4 days after I had it done. Look it up online if you need more info.

I had mine done in 2001 right after my daughter was born. I believe it took 35 - 45 mins, they gave me demerol through IV and was a little groggy when I woke up. I had also just been in labor with my daughter the morning of it, so I couldnt give you a completely clear picture of how I felt. They went through the belly button, right underneath it, tided my tubes. I actually got the works, so to speak, I got twisted, cut, and fried. The donto told me that it was basically permenent, but it could go back together in 5 1/2 years. (I'm just at that point actually)

I have a boy and a girl, I'm not with my husband anymore, but I feel it was the right thing to do. Make the decision yourself though, please dont let anyone else make the decision for you.

Good luck! :)
