I dont know, but if these women have any skills to support themselves, I can believe that tobe a good estimate. Take some of that alimony money and get into a tech school to get some kind of skill to support yourself

I don't know. I have never received alimony. In my case divorcing the bum after 18 years of marriage made me, and my children, far better off financially. He's the one who ended up out on the streets until he found someone else to support his sorry lazy a**! Thanks to a good attorney I didn't have to pay HIM alimony. As for karma yes I believe in it. He chose to be a sorry, lazy, mean, SOB and now he is paying for it. As adults his kids can't stand him because of how abusive he was to us and none of them would take his sorry a** in when I finally had a judge order him out. ( He refused to leave when I filed for divorce so a judge ordered him to.) Everything acquired during the marriage was divided equally and in less than 6 months he blew all of his money. Me, I am pretty well off, have a couple of good retirement accounts, an excellent job, a little bit of play money (now that I'm not supporting the bum) and happier than I could have ever imagined. Also, ALL of my children love and respect me and I have a very satisfying social and family life. Your question should have read "people" instead of women.

I don't think so.. But guess it all depends on if the woman was self supporting & worked all her life. I know with my x's mother.. Once the alimony stopped she was in deep trouble. However this is a woman who never worked. Myself I have always been self supporting, I do not recieve alimony & I am just fine. Guess it all depends on circumstances.

I am a female and don't believe in alimony. Child support, yes.
That's why it's important for gals to get an education and become self sufficient. The days of having a "man" support you is history. or should be.

Absolutely not!! Where did you get that idea??? Most middle aged women are self supporting and have jobs....I know quite a few and none live on the street!
That's just a ridiculous assumption on your part

I dont believe this to be so. Nor do I know ANY divorced woman who ever received alimony. One is extremely fortunate to receive child support!.......Alimony is highly unlikely in the normal world.

I never heard such a statistic in my life. Most middle aged women that are divorced, go on to live full, happy lives! Divorce is NOT the end of the world!!

No. Whoever told you that. Actually, most women live on a smaller income once divorced, but statistics show they are happier and better adjusted than the men they divorced! And yes, that is Karma.

Not true. I know at least a dozen middle aged divocees. And none of them are street people.
Wherever you got that figure, it's a load of BS.
