i have a cute ceremony thing to go to in which i must dress up cute for. so I was thinking of wear a dark chocolate brown top with orange polka dots from h&m ( it sounds kinda weird but it's cute i promise) and a black tailored pencil skirt ( the business attire ones) i would most likely wear the shirt tucked in the skirt. i have brown shoes the same color as the shirt. so i''m just a little concerned on how the brown and black would work together since i know that black and brown has it's taboo history in the past

I would not wear that. It is true that black and brown should still never, ever go together. Maybe some people think it's okay, but it sticks out like a sore thumb to me. I would also look for a brown skirt.

These sort of things are hard to really judge accurately without seeing a photo. . .but based on your description, I'm going to have to go with a no. And it's a shame, too, because the top sounds really cute! Maybe someone else has a better idea of how you can make it work together.

I wouldn't. I'd try to find either a brown skirt or orange skirt to match the shirt.

honestly, i don't love brown with black. i do not recognize, purely the combination is rather weird and wonderful. yet in case you purchased a everyday pair of denim denims and then the boots, i'm confident that in case you wore a diverse color t-blouse/hoodie except black, it would want to be extremely cool.
