My workmate asked me what i was wearing to this party and when i said jeans, she said "You're wearing jeans???" Loads of people wear jeans for parties and for going to the pub and clubs, don't they.

Yes usually you dress the jeans up with nice shoes and a dressy top. I wouldn't dress up any more than that unless I knew that it was a semi-formal or formal party. If you were to wear jeans, flip flops and a tank top then you may have an issue. Maybe your "workmate" just needs to be informed.

Jeans are casual wear,no matter how dressy they are. Dresses are not all "prudey" ;I'm sure that you can find a nice dress to your liking,or dressy slacks made out of silk ,a silk-linen blend,or some other soft,flowy material.You can always contact the person giving the party to find out if it is appropriate to wear your jeans. Also,it doesn't matter what your religious affiliation is;dressing appropriately is what matters here.Good manners are all tied up in every action that you do;your form of dress is a reflection on you,your knowledge of what is appropriate for what occasion,as well as your style.To be on the safe side,contact the party giver to see if your jeans and a dressy top would be appropriate for the party.

Depends on what kind of party it is. I guess they think you'll be bringing the standard of the party down by showing up in jeans.

There is nothing wrong with wearing jeans to most parties.Especially not with a cute,dressy top.

It depends on the party! Where do you work? If you work in, say, a bank, then jeans would not be acceptible. If you work at, say, McDonalds, then jeans would be fine!

depends on what kind of party
if very dressy.. wear nice jeans (if thats all you own) and dress it up with the fancier top/jacket , shoes or boots and jewelry

you can dress jeans up with a fancy top and heels but I would wear black or very dark jeans not faded and ripped

either if you're a he or she, it's OK.....buuuut a cashmere top is a must, if you're a guy like me, I wear jeans with a cashmere jacket that's cool.
