Well you don't "do" a degree you get a degree. And you would get a degree to advance your career or open up new career opportunities.

The point is so that you will be able to get a good job that pays well and has good benefits such as health insurance, and a retirement plan instaed of working at a fast food restaurant your entire life. Having a degree will also give you a competitive edge among other people with no college degree.

Even if you found a good job that pays well it is still worth it to go to college and get a degree. I know people who worked for 25 years at GM and other factories and lost their job. Now they have no health benefits, no education and are accustomed to having a certain lifestyle and now have to work somewhere else for 3-4 times less money. You NEVER know what could happen to your job. At least with a degree you would be able to get another one with equal pay/ benefits.

Well for me getting my degree was a personal priority. No one expected me to get one, let alone two. So I think if you go to get a degree for anyone else other than you're own personal goal and satisfaction it's probably not going to mean as much to you.

That being said however most degrees lead to higher education, either teaching or working in labs etc.

Why are you thinking of getting a Bsc?

the first answer make the correct point as in to further your career. But also it gives you credibility. If you were to ask a question in a field any field such as why is the sky blue? whose answer would you be most inclined to believe the person with the degree or the high school grad? It also gives you credibility to potential employers, a degree means you have studied subjects outside you expertise area as well and that you do have knowledge of the position you are being considered for.

very good question, degrees nowadays are ten a penny. Going back to thatchers day, when faced with hugh unemployment, especially among school leavers, they decided to create more uni places, dumb down entrance qualifications, and create more 'flambouyant' degree courses i.e. media studies. unfortunately it is only a short term fix, labour have continued with the tactic. The bottom line is there are not enough suitable jobs for graduates, leaving them with a sense of failure and up to their eyes in debt, next stop call centre work, or shelf stacking.
