Earlier I had asked how long good start formula would stay good once I boiled the water and mixed the formula if I put it with an ice pack inside of an insulated bag...I got a few helpful answers but many people said " don't boil your water and mix it ahead of time...bring the water and premeasure the formula and make it when you need it." Well...my doctor told me not to do this. They said that part of the reason you are told to boil it is so that it dissolves the formula completely. If you don't they said it will give your baby a tummy ache.

Anyone else ever heard of this???

I have a 3 and a half month old daughter and when I started my baby on Goodstart Supreme it was in the hospital. The nurses gave me her first bottle and hadnt warmed it up. When I asked them why they didnt... they said it is not necessary for the bottle to be warmed up.The baby will not know the difference and it makes things a lot easier and quicker for you. I make the bottle when she gets hungry. I asked my pediatrician and he said it would do no harm to her. I know that once you make the bottle and it is mixed and they dont eat the whole bottle that you are supposed to dispose of it after an hour. Hope this helps!! :)

I'm not for sure what way to do formula but on the can of good start formula it says you can make a bottle and refrigerate it up to 24 hours. what I do is take water out of the tap that's if your water is good out of the tap. I use cold water then I microwave the 8 0z bottle on 35 sec (each microwave will very) and its warm and then I add the formula and mix it and it mixes just right I mix only one to two bottles at a time depending how often you baby is taking a bottle I hope this helped you.

Wow, that is really outdated information! That is something my mom's doctor told her way back when...

The going theory these days is that formual doesn't need to be warm. In fact, if you give it to your baby at room temperature, it's kind of nice because they don't start to prefer it warm and it's easier to travel with. Carry bottled water and get one of those containers that has slots for an exact pre-measured serving of powder. There's no reason that shaking it well can't mix it completely.

Another option you could look into is buying pre-mixed formula in a can, all you have to do is pop it open and pour!

you really don't have to boil it unless you live in a place where boiling is needed (bad water or well water). i always used hot water to mix my formula, and i pre-made about 64 oz a time of it. a friend of mine used to send the water in the bottle and we would just add the right amount when we needed it. your formula should stay ok for a few hrs, just give it the smell test.

yes, but that is a doctors point of few. The dont understand what it is like to be out running errands. It would not hurt your child, as long as it wasnt an every feeding event. And I am a mother on WIC, and they said it is okay to mix it. Rather to mix it, then give sour milk at a feeding. Good Luck

I've never been told this. I always made my daughter's formula at room temperature. I asked the doctor was that okay and she said that it would be as long as I didn't give her anything that's ice cold.
