I am looking for any collage or university in England that has the following major: Primary school teaching. I am also looking for scholarships for international students since I live and am an United States citizen, and I do not graduate from high school until May or June of 2009.

Even in the U.S., many, if not most teachers don't major in teaching, but in the subject matters in which they will be specializing. They need the education classes for the credential. I work at a university, and education is only a graduate school. You could get a list of schools in the U.K. and look at which ones offer subjects in which you are interested. And in answer to another person who responded, yes, Oxford is in England, but that is like giving Harvard as the only option. There are plenty of universities which are less exclusive which may suit your needs.

This is a list published by The Sunday Times of London. It is a ranking of most, if not all, of the prominent universities in the United Kingdom. http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/stug2006/stug2006.pdf You can use google to search for the specific websites of the various universities. You might also want to contact the British Council http://www.britishcouncil.org/ which is an organization that is focused on providing information about educational opportunities in the UK.

You should also be aware that in the UK the word "college" does not typically refer to higher education. Colleges in the UK are secondary schools more like a high school. Still used, but fading away, is the term "College of Higher Education" which is more like a college in the US.

As a side note: I work at a university with a prominent School of Education and I have my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education, in addition I completed parts of my degrees in England and was a student teacher there. Many teachers (perhaps most) do complete degrees in education. This is probably more true for those interested in primary school education. The knowledge and practice gained specific to pedagogy, classroom management and behavior psychology and development is invaluable. In fact, according to the National Center for Educational Statistics "Of the 1,400,000 bachelor’s degrees conferred in 2003–04, the largest numbers of degrees were conferred in the fields of business (307,000), social sciences and history (150,000), and education (106,000)."
