The Hardy Boys are a creation of the company Stratemeyer Syndicate. Many different authors have penned the novels throughout the years (1927-1979), and all books have been released under the pen name Franklin W. Dixon.

Below is a link with a lot of information regarding their conception and a list of all the Hardy Boys books.

Franklin W. Dixon is the name on the cover.

In reality Franklin W. Dixon, Carolyn Keene (Nancy Drew) and _________ Appleton (Tom Swift series) were all pen names created by the owner and publisher of the books. He had a whole staff of writers working on these series, including his own daughter.

I forget the name of the publisher, but he was featured in one episode of the Young Indiana Jones. It was quite an operation since he had more than a half dozen series for young people in the works.
