There are over the counter methods of supposedly getting rid of them. Large pharmacy stores sell silicone strips that you can place on the keloid (the strip must remain there 24 hours a day and you must do this for several months). I don't know how well those things works, but a box usually goes for around $60.

The best thing to do is get it taken care of by a specialist. They will inject it with steroids and it will go away and become pretty much flat. After that, you might have to do plastic surgery to get rid of the mark/scar.

How did you get this Keloid? Was it because of an accident?

I had an accident and cut through the arch of my foot. After it healed I noticed a keloid developed on the arch muscle. This plagued me for yrs & yrs because if I would walk more than a few blocks the pain would start and go up my leg to my hip and lower back. I had to stop walking and start riding my bicycle everywhere.

Then back in the late '80's I started taking a cell repairing vitamin. Then, after several months of being on it, I noticed the pain stopped. One day I checked out where the keloid was, and it was gone!! This vitamin is amazing! I even got my eyesight back, after wearing glasses since the age of 14. If U can afford it I would highly recommend U try it. if U want to contact me use gramercygal at this site. it is not sold in stores because it would be twice the price and word of mouth keeps it very affordable.

The problem with keloids is that even if you cut them off, they will come back with worse scarring. Some dermatologists inject steroids into them. If you want to try come over the counter topical hydrocordisone (Cortaid), may make them smalle. The problem with dermatologists is that there aren't enough of them and the waiting list is very long- even that do take Medicade
(may want to contact a hospital clinic depending which borough you are living in). Good luck
