No sun tan just damages the skin. Some sun is good for the skin but don't over do it. If you want a tan you should apply fake tan moisturiser (there are loads on the market these days) and they make the skin look darker without harming it.

If you're gonna sun bathe always use some protection......

it helps your skin get darker. if you want the vitamins you can get from the sunlight (vitamin D) the tan outside. The only way you get skin cancer is if you get burnt. The burn b reaks down something in your skin and damages it. A tan can't damage unless there is a burn you just can't see. So just use sunscrean and tanning oil (wierd but it works) and you'll be fine. Tanning booths are really harsh. It doesn't help to get rid of blemishes because you start to sweat and the the sweat cloges up your pores and you get more zits. since you skin feels like it's drying out that's why it produces more oil. good luck!

No, Tanning is the body's reaction to the UV radiation from the sun. The only practical by product is that in people of Western European & Asian phenotypes a series of hormones use the UV to synthsize vitamin D. Nowdays most people get plenty of vitamin D from foods and fortified milk products. (when is the last time anyone in North America heard of 'Rickets'?) Tanning beds should be banned because they just cause cumulative damage to the dermis & epidermis. I find it funny that the folks who will weekly spend hours in a tanning bed or booth are also some of the folks who won't eat irradiated foods.

Sunlight helps your skin to make vitamin D but in excess it's gonna end up in having flaky skin.

let's face it, everyone looks better with a tan.....but the premature aging that comes along with it is totally not worth it. try one of the many sunless tanners available on the market....today's formulas are much more natural-looking and not at all orangey/streaky (my fave is jergens)....you'll get the tan look without paying the price of premature aging and possibly skin cancer!
