I heard a while back that there gonna make a real life movie of it like the LOTR trilogy. Does anyone know anything about it? I heard some studio signed onto doing the movie. Any info would be appreciated. I checked IMDB and I couldnt find anything.

When last i looked there were some problems with copyright holding things up so they should not start until 2007 or 2008 and won't be finished until 2009.

I would like to see it made. I love the animated version, and with the great effects and overall quality of the LOTR trilogy, I will be a happy fan.

The word on tolkien-movies.com is that New Line Cinema has it scheduled to begin filming in 2007, no other word about it at this time.

according to my entertainment weekly magazine, yes there are plans to make The Hobbit into a movie. check out this link:http://www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/8/1161131976
but teh hobbit is going to be considered as a "prequal" not a part of the trilogy. but i will be nice to see once it is made.
