Im learning french, I was wondering what's a good movie or tv show that could help me learn the way YOUNG PEOPLE speak since french classes always teach the old teacher sounding formal french and I im getting tired of not understanding french slang... thanks in advance ^^

If you want to pick up some French slang, try Luc Besson's (director of the 5th Element amongst other things) Taxi, Taxi 2 or Taxi 3 (the French originals obviously, not the Hollywood remakes). Taxi and Taxi 2 are very funny films, so you should enjoy them too (although I've not seen Taxi 3, so I can't vouch for that one)! The soundtracks are full of funky French rap too, so you might get hooked on that as well.

Yeah! A question for me.

Good French Films that you might find are:
Pacte des Loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf)
La Haine (HATE)-lots of slang and race issues in Paris
Les Rousseax Sauvage (Wild Reeds)-Kids in 1960's (gay theme)
Les 400 Coups (400 Blows)-One of the best films of all time and no it's not porn,.
Rene Laloux's Planete Sauvage (Fantastic Planet)-Animated aliens
Les Amants Ciminaux (Criminal Lovers) "An outrageously twisted psychosexual fairy tale"

Oh, the guy who did Amelie directed several "better"(MOp) films:
Cite des enfants perdue(City of Lost Children)
Delicatessen
and Alien Resurrection (but that he did in English)

I know of thons of others, but these are the most main stream.

PBS has a French show at like 3;30 am

ALSO any US DVD typically has a french audio track. Just watch your favorite movies in French. It helps that you already know whats going on.

The Wizard of Oz is hilarious in French!
So are the Simpsons, but Marge voice is unbearable, you think it's scratchy in English, boy are you in for a suprise!

"Les Choiristes" is a great movie, as well as "La Vie En Rose" (Which one of my all-time favorites). Some others that are pretty good are: Mon Milleur Ami À la folie... pas du tout Jean De Florette, and the sequel Manon Du Source (The were made prior to 2000, thought, but they are supposedly some of the best french movies ever made. I know I enjoyed them.) I always put the french subtitles on on my favorite american movies too. =] I know you didn't ask, but a great french band to listen to is called Yelle.

There's this cute French movie called Amelie that came out about 5 years ago. I bet you'd like it.

Here, I was going to suggest "Amelie" as well. 'Tis my favourite film, and centers a woman in her early twenties--so that may be a good try for you. Jean Pierre-Jeunet (the director) has quite a few great films. You also might want to check out "Venus Beauty Institute"...have fun!
